Call for Papers

We are pleased to invite paper submissions for the 4th Baltic Economic Conference that will take place on June 27 –28, 2022 at Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania. The Baltic Economic Conference is organized by the Baltic Economic Association and will be jointly hosted by the Bank of Lithuania and Kaunas University of Technology.


We invite submissions (full paper or extended abstract) from all fields of Economics and Finance. Each paper will be assigned a discussant. Authors of accepted paper implicitly agree to be a discussant in the conference.


Keynote speaker: Kaivan Munshi (Yale University) Economic Development and Entrepreneurship: The Chinese Experience

Kaivan Munshi is currently a Professor of Economics at Yale University, a Faculty Affiliate of the Yale Economic Growth Center, and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is the leading expert in the development economics with specific focus on the role of social institutions and their interaction with economic activity during the phase of economic development. His research has been cited more than 8000 times according to Google Scholar.

Conference Fees

The regular conference fee is 75 EUR. There is no conference fee for the members of the Baltic Economic Association, as well as master and PhD students of higher education institutions from the Baltic States. The participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation expenses.


Best PhD Paper Award

There will be an award in the sum of EUR 500 for the best paper presented by a PhD student. The candidates for the award are not limited to the Baltic region (neither in terms of institution nor nationality), but the following rules apply:

· paper is presented at the conference

· all authors of the paper are doctoral students or researchers having defended their thesis in 2021/2022.



Conference Venue and Mode

Location: Kaunas University of Technology, Santaka Valley (K. Baršausko st. 59, Kaunas, Lithuania)

The conference is currently planned to take place in the in-person mode, under the assumption that participants from the Baltic States will be able to travel to Kaunas. In case the pandemic restrictions will not allow any physical meetings in Kaunas in June, the conference will switch to the fully online mode. The authors of all accepted papers will be notified about the conference mode in April at the latest.
